Why there is resistance to change and solutions for resistance






Change can be identified as one of the most significant elements in contemporary business environment where is it an essential component in adopting novel things within an organization. Therefore, most of the companies are keen on adopting new things for the organization with the intention of achieving desired objectives. However, it is noted that most of the change management process are not successful as planned by the organizations due to the resistance emerged among the employees within an organization (managementstudyguide.com, 2021).

Resistance can be regarded as the unwillingness or the lack of preference for adopting change within an organization due to various concerns. There can be numerous reasons for occurring such resistance to change which can be elaborated as follows (prosci.com, 2022).

Lack of understanding

There would be a lack of awareness regarding the change process, its benefits towards the company as well as for the employees.

Different assessments

There can be different perceptions of the employees regarding the change without considering the objective assessment of the process.

Lack of communication



There can be several communication gaps where the employees are not properly updated and engaged for the change management process from the inception.

Low tolerance for change

There are several employees who are not willing to undergo a learning process with the changing process and thereby intentional resistance is created without considering its true requirement and significance for the company.

 

Therefore, it is required to obtain appropriate remedial actions in order to ensure that the change is properly put in place within the business (prosci.com, 2022).

Education

It is required to undertake proper educating and awareness session within the business in order to ensure that the employees have required knowledge and expertise to adopt to the changes. Awareness needs to be given before the inception of the change management process.

Employee training

Required employee training sessions are to be arranged in order to ensure that the employees are in line with the required skills and competence level.


Employee engagement

Proper engagement needs to be created among employees to identify the challenges of the employees where appropriate supporting sessions to be conducted to gain their maximum contribution.
