Core dimensions for gaining employee motivation
Motivation is the willingness of a person to exert high levels of effort to satisfy some individual
need or want. Therefore, employees' motivation level would be required in enhancing the
the entire performance of an organization where there should be several strategies to be used by
the organization in creating stimulators for employees for the improvement of the motivation
as it directly affects in increasing work performance productivity, higher employee satisfaction,
reduction of employee absenteeism as well as employee turnover (Ahmad, 2018) .
Therefore, organizations should identify several strategies in enhancing employee motivation in
a way that job scope is properly managed and improved. Therefore, there are five dimensions
through which job characteristics of the employees to be standardized which can be elaborated
as follows (Champoux, 2017) (Luenendonk, 2019) .
Skills variety
It is required to improve skills and abilities of the employees where the employees should be
given opportunities to improve their skills and competencies as well. Therefore, it is required to
create opportunities for employees to use their new skills and abilities in order to perform
assigned duties and responsibilities.
Task identity
It is required to provide proper task identity by providing meaningful work for the
employees.
Task Significance
It is vital to create a proper significance for the employees regarding their work while
emphasizing the significance of properly conducting assigned duties on other job performance as
well. This will create accountability and motivation within them to perform better than
expectations.
Autonomy
Providing independence to perform employee duties and responsibilities is essential while
providing the freedom for decision making as well. Simultaneously, it is required to enhance the
accountability towards the job activities.
Feedback
Providing better feedbacks regarding the actual performance is beneficial for the employees to
future improve their performance level as well.
